ORDINARY LIFE CAN INCLUDE ARCHITECTURE. (And Architecture is all design that changes the way we see, from the spaces we inhabit to the tools we use). With the right amount of assertive planning and some good taste, we can enrich the functions of our daily lives. Let's you and I put our heads together and see what predilections might be drawn out from your needs & wishes.
What Can I Do For You?
I KNOW A LOT OF GOOD QUESTIONS to ask and I take a certain expert pleasure in confronting whatever
Here's What I Know:
MY BACKGROUND: Having studied the humanities by way of the arts and philosophy, learned to see by drawing, and arrived at design as a process to solve problems of living, I only ever achieved real Architecture when I had a budget and a schedule. Throw in a municipal code and the demands of a real estate management company, and some actual constraints make themselves known, and creativity flourishes.
Here's How I Found Out:
A LOT OF ENTHUSIASM & YEARS OF LUXURY RETAIL: Where every square minute is crunched for its dollar value, and matters of taste can be rigorously codified - it's a great arena in which to hone one's skills. It's this background of executive architecture that I come from: I cut my teeth as Construction Supervisor renovating Tiffany & Co.'s flagship 57th St store. Most recently, I spent many years bringing to polished completion the store designs of demanding brands Ermenegildo Zegna and Chloe, and showrooms for Poliform and Poltrona Frau, among others. The more intimate scale of high-end residential projects allowed me the personal pleasure of serving the needs and wishes of individual clients.
What I'm Doing Now:
AS A SOLE PROPRIETOR, I run a lean office, relying on the proven talents of colleagues and consultants as projects require, and devoting myself to the immediate needs of my client relationship. From the headache of serving the requirements of your co-op management, to the fun parts of design, and the scary parts of construction, fabrication, and/or printing & delivery - it's all taken care of.
A RESIDENTIAL LIBRARY ADDITION & A CALIFORNIA WINE LABEL are projects at both ends of the Architecture spectrum recently completed. Have an old barn to restore or re-purpose? A new shop, (with or without fixtures), or cafe, (with or without menus and matchbooks), to open to great fanfare? Have a simple office (with or without business cards or letterhead), or apartment kitchen (with or without service for ten), that should rather be fabulous?
